Country Heart 2

Quilt Documentation # 133

Country Hearts 2

This was all about playing with raw edge applique. I stitched scraps to a piece of muslin, leaving all the raw edges exposed. Nine hearts were cut from that and applied to squares again leaving the raw edges.

In this top, I also wanted using different types of fabric designs together - hand dyed, a design of small squares in a grid, stripes and plaids.

The seam between the inner and outer borders was also stitched backwards to expose the seam allowance.

Borders, quilting, binding

What was left of the panel of stitched scraps was used in the middle of the back of the quilt.  Even the sleeve was pieced from left-overs from the front of the quilt.

I seemed determined to make use every bit of those left -over fabrics from the quilt top.
